My American Idol

  • Mood:
  • Fictions: Widow of the South by Robert Hicks
  • Pages: 1 chapter revised
My niece auditioned for American Idol in Dallas this week. They held the auditions in Texas Stadium and my sister said it was half full--they stood in line for hours just to get a wrist-band to get in, then more hours to wait for her to sing 15-20 seconds. Needless to say, she didn't make it past the first set of judges--why?!--because they already had people with her 'look' and 'sound.' The judges were complimentary, they said, she just wasn't what they needed. In fact, my sister said they turned down tons of great people and the only ones they saw picked were the terrible ones! It's all about entertainment, and terrible entertains! It'll be interesting to see if any of them make it to the show... I'm glad my niece is doing all this when she's young--maybe if she decides to pursue a career in this field, she'll be a lot smarter than I was about it. And she's doing it while she's young--way to go, Jennifer!!!

In the meantime, I had a pretty productive day. Getting caught up on the editing front, and actually started working on Middle River again, the Kings Row sequel book. Managed to get 1 chapter revised and I don't think I'm going to have to do too much to make the changes I want to make. It's nice to be working again, and I still think it's a good read.

That pretty much wraps it up for my day. Off to Columbia tomorrow for a hair cut. And to the bank!
